Play dough has been one of my favourite activities since I was a little girl. Not generally the store bought stuff, but the homemade kind. If you’ve never made it yourself give it a try, it is super easy to make. If you Google play dough recipes, there is a multitude to choose from, all similar but slightly different. I’ve always used the recipe straight from the McKenzie’s Cream of Tartar tub.
Chocolate Play dough
Recipe straight from the McKenzie’s Cream of Tartar tub.
- 2 cups Plain Flour
- 4 tbsp McKenzie’s Cream of Tartar
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cups water
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Food colouring or Cocoa
Living in Queensland, I often don't even mix it over medium heat just combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix it up, just another little bonus for our hot climate.
With Easter just around the corner, I like to give our play dough a chocolate twist. Instead of adding a few drops of our favourite food colouring we add a tablespoon or two of cocoa instead.
Add a few Easter cookie cutters and plastic eggs to your play dough tools and let the kids imaginations run wild!
Have you ever made play dough? What recipe do you use? I’d love to see what play dough fun you get up to.
